The Kol rebellion stretched to Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Palamu, and Manbhum. Budhu Bhagat led the Kol Rebellion against the British in 1831.

Buddhu Bhagat introduced a rebellion with the tribals of Chhotanagpur in 1832 against the British and zamindars' oppressive authority. This revolt is known as the Larka rebellion, to which the Oraon, Munda, Bhumij, Ho, and other tribals contributed. The British offered a bounty for catching Budhu Bhagat. On February 13, 1832, British forces arrived at Silagai village and encountered heavy opposition from Budhu Bhagat's men. They attacked the British army with bows, arrows, axes, and swords. Budhu Bhagat's sons, Haldhar and Giridhar Bhagat, were slain. The British caught and killed Budhu Bhagat.
