Massanjore Dam, Dumka
Massanjore Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Mayurakshi River in Massanjore, near Dumka, Jharkhand. The Massanjore Dam (also known as the Canada Dam) across the Mayurakshi River was completed in 1955. It was publicly launched by Canadian Foreign Minister Lester B. Pearson. The Mayurakshi River at the dam site has a catchment area of 1869 square kilometers.
Massanjore Dam is 661.58 meters long and 47.25 meters high from its base. When full, the reservoir covers 67.4 square kilometers (16,650 acres) and can store 617,000,000 cubic meters (500,210 acre-feet). The overflow section is 225.60 meters long and is divided into 21 bays that are 9.144 meters wide each. The design discharge capacity is 4.446 cumecs. The full reservoir level is 121.34 meters, while the flood level is 122.56 meters. It costs Rs. 16.10 crore.
