Naulakha Temple, Deoghar

Naulakha Temple Deoghar

The Naulakha Temple is a Hindu temple situated in Deoghar, Jharkhand, India. Naulakha Temple is devoted to the Hindu deities Radha and Krishna.

The temple stands 146 feet (45 metres) tall. It is composed of granite and marble. It contains idols of Radha, Krishna, Gopal, and Balananda Brahmachari. A sculpture of Rani Charushila can be found at the entryway. The temple's architectural architecture is similar to that of the Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math.

History:

Rani Charushila, a member of the Ghosh family, a Bengali royal dynasty from Pathuriaghata near Kolkata, built the Naulakha temple. Charushila lost her husband, Akshay Ghosh, and son, Jatindra Ghosh, prematurely. This hurt her and drove her to leave her home in quest of serenity.

Later, while in Deoghar, Charushila met the saint Balananda Brahmachari and spent some time at his ashram. On his recommendation, Queen chose to build the Naulakha temple, allocating nine lakh rupees for its construction—giving it the name Naulakha. The temple was built in 1940.
