Rikhiapeeth Ashram, Ranchi
Rikhiapeeth Ashram is located in a secluded area twelve kilometers from the renowned temple town of Deoghar in Jharkhand. It is the tapobhumi of Paramahansa Satyananda, a great spiritual luminary and Yoga exponent who is known all over the world for his specific and unrivaled contribution to Yoga, Tantra, and spiritual science.
Swami Satyananda spent twenty years at Rikhiapeeth as a Paramahansa Yogi, performing long and hard yogic sadhanas before taking Samadhi here in 2009. In keeping with the yogic and spiritual legacy he left behind, the large ashram has blossomed into a lively center where serious yoga enthusiasts and sincere spiritual seekers from all walks of life come to experience the peace, harmony, and pure delight of living a Yogic lifestyle.
He gave Rikhia the mission to serve, love, give, and purify. Rikhiapeeth is ideal for people who want to live yoga rather than just practice it. The main focus is on seva (selfless service). It caters to genuine aspirants seeking a holistic approach to Yoga, as seva is viewed not just as social service but also as a sadhana or spiritual effort. Rikhiapeeth is also the official headquarters for Sivananda Math and Sivananda Ashram. Ongoing activities under the aegis of these institutions range from Yoga instruction, Yoga sadhana retreats, Yajnas, Yoga, Tantra, and Philosophy courses, to an ashram lifestyle centered on seva (service) to rural populations.
Rikhiapeeth is particularly distinguished by its location in a pure, quiet, rural setting, which adds depth to the yogic life practiced here. A terrific place to detox and practice yoga while helping others.
Rikhiapeeth's spiritual acharya, Peethadhishwari Swami Satyasangananda, directs its various activities, which are based on the teachings of Swami Satyananda and his Guru Swami Sivananda.
