Usri Falls, Giridih
Usri Falls is a waterfall in Giridih district, Jharkhand, India. It's a popular tourist and picnic destination. Usri denotes a "beautiful source".
The Usri River, a tributary of the Barakar, rushes through a rocky valley. The Usri Falls descend 12 meters (39 feet) into three distinct streams. It's surrounded by lush woodland.
The gneissic complex of this location is clearly visible. Some of the boulders have been cut into massive blocks with polished and immaculate surfaces that are dotted with veins of various colors. The river bed profile alters after traveling past the falls. The lower half is largely level but somewhat sloping, giving birth to a gorge-like shape.
The government has taken various attempts to promote the area as a popular tourist destination, including Khandoli Dam and Parasnath.
